After loosing a weekends worth of work to the snow the week previous, I decided I had to make some serious headway with the car either on the interior or finishing the last few tiny bits on the engine. First thing was first she needed a clean and I put the plate back on to give it that almost there feel (all in my head but nevertheless):

It then started raining in true form so I thought best to get the interior back together looking much more like a whole car again inside;
I tackled the easy parts first and got the stereo out of my fiesta and installed it into the mk4 as a temp stereo until I can get a double din unit:

Installed, obviously the silver parts on the side are to be wrapped still

Next was to get the door handles sorted so I trimmed off the excess wrap and them came out really well I think:

As with most mk4’s my interior was shot to pieces so I hit up a new breakers near me which seems to be a goldmine as I got all of the below for less then a tenner (including the boot carpet)

As I was driving out I saw a Bora in another yard so decided to see if there were any vents going cheap, there weren’t but I did see that they had a set of clocks like the old set that I wished I never sold (times were hard)…..I thought no way, somebody had taken the vents but left these clocks, you got to be joking, its got to be diesel, alas it was petrol and I snapped up a set of Bora Sport clocks like my old set for a BARGAIN price…..to say I was chuffed and still am is an understatement! So I put down a deposit and collect them this weekend, as an added bonus they have the trip computer which is already wired up to my stalk from my old clocks.

When I got back Vdub Ben gave me a shout and said he wanted to do the wiring to extend my map sensor so he came over and did that, just need to be soldered now:

We decided to have a look at the serious blow in my exhaust and I have ordered up a step down sleeve and the centre rubbers for it. Once they arrive il get under and fit them, problem in theory should be solved.

He was also telling me about how he had his boost run into his cruise control stork so he could have a third of the power then flick the switch full power, I wanted a bit of this so I bought the resistors, my button and thought it would look quite sweet in the blanking plug where you Gti owners normally have your traction control…I don’t have that so thought good thing to replace it with. Didn’t have the tools so went round sammys, got the hole drilled and used the mini dremel to get the right size hole:

Fitted (needs to be wired up then it will light up ‘Boost’ in red when pressed and should match the rest of the dash;

Also spoke to VWUnit and he needed a set of OE mk4 headlights and I needed a good condition 1.8T Gti steering wheel so we gonna do a straight swap. Just needs to install the cream handbrake get a few little cream parts to tie in the seats, nothing major and then interior is 90% finished.
Quick pic of how its looking at the moment

PROGRESS!! Finishing last few bits off in the next couple weeks then hopefully paint, tax, mot and insurance next month – think im going to miss U.D but nevermind I should be out for shows after that.
Comments welcome as always
