gearbox oil problem
« on: 17 April 2007, 15:22 »
hope you can help.  changed my gearbox oil today as per instruction in the maintainence section. the car is a 91' 8v pb.  jacked up the passenger side and drained when warm.left to cool and filled up. it took all 2 litres but bear in mind the box was tilted up at an angle.  went for a quick drive down the road to make sure oil was worked in.put the car back in garage all 4 wheels on the floor level, left to cool, and undid the filler hole where about 1/4 litre of clean oil came out. so the box only has a capacity of 1 3/4 litres, not 2 as stated in the faq and haynes?

am i correct? being such a late box i wouldnt have to fill up the speedo hole for the last half litre or so?

it felt so slick on just a 2 minute drive. Paul

just looked at trans code and it reads AUG 0107041

you'll never get all the old gearbox oil out, so that sounds about right to me :)
