Must depend on which day of the week your car was built... 25 miles on a Mon, 30 miles on a Tue, 35 miles on a Wed etc etc etc!!

I'm sure the breakdown cover will be useful if you run out of fuel

I think the light coming on at 30 vs 40/45 miles is down to changes in the most recent ECU Updates.  Previously the light would come in my GTI at 45 miles, but since it recently went in and was flashed it comes on at 30 miles.

UPDATE..

Left work last night, with a 17 mile trip home and 25 miles too go showing, and no fuel light on, hit 20 miles left in tank, and fuel light came on, filled up with 5 miles to go showing, tank took 51.28 ltrs to brim it, or 11.29 gallons, the trip showing 315 miles, so MPG 27.9

I find that a bit pointless, when a car that does around 27 MPG has a fuel low light that comes on so late.later in fact then my GTi which came on at 45 miles to go, and did 33 MPG.

Very strange , and I agree with what you're saying.  Keep us all posted when it comes on again. Maybe, as it was the first time, the computer is still settling in due to the running in period and will come on earlier next time.  Or maybe I'm talking cobblers .  Interested to find out your next result.
