Don't get me started on the quality of the VW speakers again

Any VW Golf sound system doesn't have the same build quality or sound quality that an aftermarket (even cheapish) system can produce. The only thing that has come near to basic acceptability is the new Dynaudio system....and even that can be bettered with £500 of aftermarket goodies
I disagree - not everyone wants / can afford to spend hundreds of ££'s on a new system, plus there are a lot of people that still want the OEM look.
£50 gets you a set of 6 speakers and crossover units that are miles better than the OEM stuff - that's what I'd call a bargain! Yes, they may have a VW sticker on them, but VW do not make speakers - they buy from the likes of Blaupunkt etc... if you want to improve your sounds without spending a small fortune, then give them a whirl, they fit in the OEM positions too!
You are pretty naive if you knock something you haven't even tried / listened to - the VW upgrade I'm referring to isn't the 10-speaker upgrade (I already had that in my ed 30) - it replaces the std paper cone speakers with a polypropylene membrane for the woofer and mid-range and an aluminium tweeter replaces what looks like a plastic affair as std.
