« on: 28 January 2004, 13:12 »
If the Battery, Alternator and belt have been replaced, works ok for a few days then wont start, only if you jump it, what could the problem??  Have tried tightening the belt but still keeps dying....  Could it be te fact it is only driven about 4 miles a day???  Please help as its doing my head in, cheers

might be worth checking the Alernator is working properly... Test the terminals on the Alternator.. When running you should get about 13-14 Volts... When engine is off you should see about 12V.

Are you sure that something is not draining the battery overnight?. Check the charge rate as said, but check the voltage at the battery terminals. This will rule out any bad connections on the alternator +ve to the battery or engine earths. When checking the charge rate note the voltage, then put a jump lead from a good earth point on the engine to the earth terminal on the battery then see if the charging voltage increases. If it does (had one at the weekend ;)) check all the earths and cable crimped ends v carefully. Also check the +ve cable carefully, esp where it bolts to the starter solonoid. Good luck.
Steve.
