Rear Wiper Woes
« on: 05 February 2007, 22:11 »
Right, i have a problem with the rear wiper. It started a little while ago, when i put it on, it wiped just under half the screen and stopped  Every time i did it, it would park in funny places, each time doing sort of half a wipe... My first thought was relay, its not supplying the power for long enough. Replaced, same problem.

Next, i took the linkage out, cleaned it up, and greased the spindle, common problem with rust i gather... Same problem.

Next, i tried a new motor, which worked perectly in the donor car, doing the whole wipe, put in mine, same half wipe problem!

Now i dont know where to go! I've done everything i can think of!

Help! Could it be the fusebox, as i have had a few probs with the fog light, whic i believe is the fusebix?

Thanks :)

Could be a broken wire! top of the tailgate (lefthand side) where the wires come out of the body, and enter the tailgate, pull back the rubber sheathing  and have a look.. if you have broken wires, solder back together, and use heat shrink to finish the job off properly.. hope it helps

Can you keep us posted - I have the same problem. Have replaced motor twice and relay. Problem remains. Drives me mad seeing the wiper half way accross the rear screen!

Yeah, i forgot to mention that i already had the problem with the broken wires, and i already fixed that problem :( So i'm still lost!

Also, surely if the wires were broken, it would be more intermittent, stopping at lots of different places...?

thats exactly what i thought i think another wire goes to the relay to give it extra power, check wiring again mate to be sure.
