Under the dash to the right of the steering wheel is the fuse box. The relays are in there above the fuses.
Bit difficult to see, you need to kneel down outside the open drivers door and peer up in and under.

Somewhere on here, I think its rubjonny or boneybradley has posted a scan of the layout of all the relays so you can see what is what.

Its in relation to stuff like this, you can always check their posts.

Its definately on around here somewhere

is it easy to see if a relay is faulty by looking at it? or can you test it?

i know i read before about cracks in the solder joints but can these be easily seen?

i've removed the plastic covers from my ECU and fuel pump relays and they look ok but i'm not really sure what i'm looking for?

heres the thread that will help you locate it http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=74087.0
and i dont think you can really test them..only try them in another car and if the fault occurs on that car you know its knackered

Its dead easy to test em guys!

Warm up the car, a good blast the stop.turn off and pull it out. If its warm to the touch then its OK but if cold then its duff!

Simple. :smug:

^^ Does this actually work?  Get the car to temp, pull the relay and if warm it works?  Would save spending cash unless it really is needed!

you can test em with a meter and a car battery but to be honest it aint worth it as most tend to have intermittent faults, as they warm up the contact is broken etc
I would just buy a couple of each and keep em safe for later! They dont seem to last long ive had three n0 30s, one a year on my old girl. i think the Poo colour signifies the quality
