Mk3 steering off centre

I have a mk3 gti 16v. I have just changed a the front nearside wheel bearing. Now the steering wheel is off centre when the wheels are straight. I had the tracking done and this hasn't solved the problem. Is there a way to solve this? Cheers

take it to somewhere else and get it done properly. 
sounds like bodge job.

they should centre the steering wheel and steady it with a brace , then do the tracking.

Can't I just adjust the steering wheel, someone told me I could do that? Or will I get excessive tyre wear etc?

Forgot to mention my other problem. When I am doing a 3 point turn, or steering very tight, the car makes a grinding noise. On the same side as the wheel bearing replacement. Had a look and I can't see anything obvious that should be rubbing. At high speed tight corners with a lot of weight in the car it also makes a high pitched shriek sound. As if metal is grinding. Any ideas? Cheers

For the scraping problem - if the tracking is done properly it will centre the wheel and also stop that problem - due to the set up being off set to one side I should think.

The high pitch whining could be the bearing bedding in, it could also be the bearing not fitted well, although I think the noise would happen all the time and get worse when turning against that wheel - more car weight on it.

Take it back and say OI! It's not doing what its supposed to!

the steering getting tight could be the bellow thing becoming twisted, happened to me once when I got local slow-fit to do tracking, wheels pointed straight, but I only got  1 turn lock right and about 3 turns left, steering was tight, ended up ripping the bellow and doing tracking myself after borrowing some dunlop gauges.

same thing happend to me, different bunch of twits tho'. (challenger tyres , rutland rd, sheffield..AVOID LIKE THE PLAGUE!)

only in my case they also managed to burn through both CV boots and snap part of the casing on the rack. 
I reluctantly let them replace everything, free of course , but got someone i trust to give it a once over when it was fixed.

did you mark the position of the hub->strut bolts before you removed the hub, and then refit them in the same place? If not the camber will be out which will make your wheel sit off centre.
