Stomper I'm Twyford way but could sort out a meet up to show what it does

It's best to get things like induction kit if wanting one, leads, plugs and 'zorst sorted befor the remap to get the full potential from the map.

Drop me a pm with your details and we'll see what can be done, just a bit busy this week and the start of next

Thanks guys!

Well, here's the next question.....

I've found an N reg 16v GTI (96 I think), three door with 106k on the clock, locally, which drives very well.

The bodywork and interior are in very good condition.

There's no service history, other than the last year, which included a replacement cam belt.

It's with a dealer and they'll put 12 months MOT on it and a 3 month warranty but no tax.

It doesn't have an alarm, which will cost me about £300 to have installed.

I've done the HPI checks and that's all okay.

The dealer is trying to sell the car for £2,295 and wont budge on price. Is he taking the piss?

Cheers

Lee

In a word i'd have to say yes.

The fact that there is no road tax or service history is a bit of a concern but if there was room to negotiate then it wouldn't be so bad.

To be honest mate there's other cars about so if you're in no rush then i'd wait for something more suitable to come up.

Just my opinion.

That STEALER has that car at least a grand over! Dont touch it with a bargepole.

There are better and newer cars out there for a lot less money.

I paid 3k for mine in July last year...but it was spotless....and I meen that...immaculate paint and interior and came with all the trimmings that I wanted, FSH, lowered, induction, 'zorst, Amd remap, OZ alloys, alarm, 12 months test, 6 months tax, top end stereo with top end components...2nd car and done 30k in 7 years so was worth the money imo and has been a dream to own.

Saying all of that I have changed nearly everything but what you gonna do

Would say that no service history is the bit that I would question, and if it's standard then over priced. People say you don't get money back for mods...but you can get top $$$ if the car is solid everywhere else and the mods can seal this.

Step away from the rip off...nothing but financial heartache here to see

FSH is everything imo, walk away if you cannot get the history on a car. Never buy the first car you see... shop around
When you guys say 106k do you mean in kms? or miles?  Just a pleb from the colonies here

With regard to checking out a mk3 always look underneath them (get it on a hoist if poss or use a mirror) have a look at the 4 jack points, as it is common for this area to be damaged when people jack the car in the wrong spot.

Hi bsting

When we say 106k, we mean 106,000 miles.

I paid £2900 for mine FOUR years ago!
It was totally standard FSH with 98k.
No Mods whatsover but a 16v with ABS and air-con.

That was a fair price at the time.
