ive just bought a mk3 gti and would like it lowered. its only for looks, probably 30mm as it still needs to be usable.. can anyone recomend a set of springs.. noticed j.tec and another manufacturer from germany with sets on ebay,,can anyone tell me about this particular ones

ive read that you should change the shocks as well, otherwise it will bottom out.

i've just got a set of eibach springs and read that it would be advisable to get some shocks as well so I got some Boge Turbo Gas shocks quite cheap from gsfcarparts

Eibach springs are superb by all accounts, can be used with original dampers as long as they're in good condition.

Will drop about 30mm.

Ive had them on my mk3 for 2 years now and the standard shocks are still fine.
Not bad considering I live in pothole city , speedbumpshire.  :laugh:  :cry:

Yep we've got Eibachs on my brother's MK3, they've actually dropped almost 40mm and the ride is fantastic.  Standard shocks - boge turbos and monroes

I think as long you go with progressively wound springs, you should be ok.

I always think that if you lower it then its worth doin shocks at the same time as the springs. like is said above though, eibach's are very good

had mine lowered last week ive got a bilstien sprintline kit on mine dropped it 35mm and it amazing handling in 10 times better only problem i had was when the car is loaded it rubbed on the arches so i had to do a bit of grinding and now its sweet oh the kit cost me just over £400

the car has new shocks fitted, i only want to lower it for looks and as always money is an isue so this is why i was hoping to just do yhe spring kit, how much are the eibach kits?
