Never had any of my dubs's broken into. However I was driving through the city where I live on Saturday nite and accidentally splashed a puddle ova sum chav rat kids. When I parked up, I saw the fcukers boot my rear wing as they walked past..no damage though.
My sisters A3 got broken into round the corner from my house the other day. They must have seen her put her bags in the car, lock it and come bak to say bye. The bast*rds used a screwdeiver to lever against the passenger window & frame and just simply smashed the window with the pressure, nicked her handbag and a carrier bag. Didnt touch the stereo or anything. In fact the dopey idiots nicked her EMPTY handbag, a carrier bag of RUBBISH and left her wallet (FULL) sitting on the seat!! Still damaged the door frame and she got a new door courtesy of Diamond Insurance.

Does a bungled attempt count:

Didn't get any photos of the second bungled attempt - seems a MK4 is inpenetrable!! They even smashed the window on the second go, and still go Fcuk all. Muppets.

Police think they were after stereo system. Scumbags

S11eps sorry to see that done to your car did they think it was a tin of bake beans they were trying to steal?

I do think VW took a long time to solve the entry problem a bit late even some of the late passats had really bad fob keys and certian thing you could do would gain entry without breaking sweat.
I still think its good business for them as parts being sold through VAG must raise a few eyebrows? (inserts sarc)
Corrado is problery even an easier car to break into than a MKII for reasons I will not outline!
Does those black tough steel door plates actually work people? mmmmm

Jay, if you get good quality armour door plates then yes they do work and stop people getting in with one of the easy ways that you can get into old VW's.

Gibby thats the thing mate armor plates does stop the passer by thief, but in the end if they wanted to get in what damage are they going to do just to get in?
I'm lucky as where I live open doors, cars houses still exists. These scum bags really need doing over to get a quick fix.
Not sure I'm putting armored plates on the Rallye it doesn't have a stero to nick!

The armour plates stop them fooking up the door skin as I'd prefer them to smash the window rather than the door and lock. I've not put them on my Rallye yet as I'd prefer not to if I can help it.

I bought some armoured plates from GSF to fit to my Mk2 16v, but couldn't get the door handles to fit back on with them on, so had to ditch them.
Watch out if buying a car cos some people use the armoured plates to cover up the fact the car has been damaged when broken into.

i've got 1 alarm, shock sensors, ultrasonic sensors, 3 immobs, reinforced security window tints ....... and largely nothing worth stealing in the car, no stereo or speakers.

like everyone has said, if they want to get in, they will - it doesnt make any odds what security you have. i used to bolt my stereo down at the back using 3mm steel cable to the firewall, but it just meant, they'd never be able to remove it and just damage the crap out of the dash to try and get it.
