I have bought a GOLF GTI Edition 30. I was the first to buy at my local dealer and expecting early March,
The spec is
MFSW
5 door, red, dsg
Ipod / armrest
Sun roof
Xeons
Highline
Parking sensors

Now I like my music and stereo. I am used to using tom toms and the sat nav set up in the golf is just poor.
I would like to get something a bit special. Preferably sat nav / touch screen / good music that fits flush on the dash.

Any recommendation which is the best headunit?
Will it work with the MFSW?
What speakers to add (if at all)?
Do I get the I pod option from factory so that this links with the after market cd/sat nav unit?
anything I should add from the factory option list to make the final set up better ( I was thinking theRCD 500 will give 10 speakers spaces)?

I was thinking something between 1000-2000 pounds but can always go a little bit more to get perfect.

Looks/wow factor are very important to me and would like a nice clean finish. I like the large LCD screens.

 The pioneer looks good http://www.pioneerelectronics.com/pna/v3/pg/division/demo/0,,2076_310069681,00.html#unit=AVIC%20Z1

Would the phone on/off button on the MFSW work ?

I was reading (on this site) that the Alpine is a better fit? The fit is important to me. Would be nice to have phone/sat nav/music but if the fit is not perfect then the phone can go. Even the sat nav can go (as I can use tom tom which I love). But would like a nice sound set up.

For high end stuff you should post and read other threads here http://www.talkaudio.co.uk/vbb/forumdisplay.php?f=4

Hi Aerospace - thanks for the link and will do my investigations on there. In general, I do like factory fitted stuff and the look of the vw set up is good. shame the performance in only so so. and the money saved seams to but an awful lot on the audio/sat nav market

the easy way to explain the talk audio jargon is, anything american import is in another league to the uk kit, go for it every time if you have the cash and can wait, never been on talk audio but i know from experience. type in US AMPS into google and check out that brands top spec stuff, rockford fosgate and audiobahn are ok and are sometimes availiable in the uk.
