« on: 20 January 2004, 19:17 »
hi i was wondering if anyone has had this problem before:
when car running and heating switch on hot, the air comming through it is only luke warm and then cold then wee bit warm even when temp gauge is half way.
no water leaks, im thinking heating matrix.
try and have a look at it friday.

thanks guys

Try changing the by-pass valve, it is between the 2 hoses that go into the bulkhead next to the coolant expansion tank.

Worth checking the control flaps in the heater box as well, sometimes the foam rots away so preventing a good seal and there is also a small cog that can fall out.

Easy way to realign everything: put both sliders to the far right, move the flaps where they should be and reconnect it.

Easy way to clear a blocked heater matrix.

Disconnect both hoses that go into bulkhead... Attached hose to one side (make sure heater is set to hot as it will open the vavle).

Spary into hose... If water comes out freely then its ok and the problem could be elsewhere (thermostat not opening for instance).

Did this recently on my girlfriends Micra.. Worked a treat!!

i had that problem, found my matrix was leakin, replaced it, still cold. i.ll try that valve me thinks!

also my temp gadge never gets past the 1st line(cold) when cruising, is this a cause?
