Hi all!! Newbie here from Newcastle!
« on: 10 January 2007, 11:14 »
Hi everyone!

Used to be a member on here when I had my old Golf CL...

Thought I'd re-register now that I own a GTI and start fresh...

I own a mk3 (as you can see from my name) 8v GTI, bought it from Norwich in July '06 with only 55k on the clock

Looking for a 20v Turbo conversion, if anyone has any info on sources for good engines or a reliable place to have to conversion carried out, then please PM me.

Thanks guys

Yeah that's my baby

Got a friend to take the background out of a picture then I lowered it on paint

Totally standard colour concept apart from the wheels and mk4 style front lights.

Where abouts do I post more pics of my car? Don't want to put them in the wrong section!

Thanks

Just posted a few pics there. Your place any good on insuring young people on GTI's?

I'm 19, one claim in Feb '06.

bonjourno...

good choice of ride mate.... loving the wheels! cheeky 60mm drop would see the lowering in that pic.

as for the 20vt conversion, got no info, but im interested as well, a mate of mine with a nice oak green mk2 said the engines sit on the same mounting points, but im not convienced.  :undecided:

How much do you pay at the moment? have you had your licence over 2yrs?

At the mo I'm paying £1700 in my mother's name with me as a named driver...

Got a quote from Newton Lee Insurance Svcs for £1700 in my name, tpf+t with mods listed.

I've had my license for just over two years.

Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

I've been to a few places to ask questions and get prices for the conversion and I was advised I would need to buy the engine mounts with the 20vT engine.

Veedubs quoted me £1500-£2000 for a full conversion kit (everything included) PLUS £2000 for them to carry out the conversion!  :undecided: Don't mind paying good money for a good engine but £2000 for the conversion!
