wINDOW HAS VANISHED ON ME ARGH!!!!!!!!

I did read this was a common fault on the vw mk 4 and hey ho there i was bringing my window up this moning and plop gone
Called AA see if  i could skank it i now have attractive plastic on me door with big black tape
so advise i believe i have to buy a kit? he told me it would need re sealing?

Mk4 plastic window holder clip's...there sh*t and even vw will sell you a replacement which is metal...Time to take the door panel off ,remove the plastic clip and replace with metal.....I do believe vw did a recall on this problem but don't know if that was all mk4's or how many people had this done.Give the dealer a call and see what they say

isnt just mk4 golfs its a problem on other dubs and ive heard of it happening on some audi's too, not sure about any recalls though there are fair few others on here had same problem

done six of these now on various vag group cars
ive found it easier to replace the metal door cover
£65 pound all in from local vw dealers not a hard  job if you know what your

Are you mad, it's piece of piss to do, and the replacement part is only £28 - no need to buy the metal cover.

i replaced the whole panel when mine went also

mainly because i was pished when i tried to prop the window up temporarily with blocks of wood while i got the new clips and managed to drill the rivets out that held the frame to the door

it did come with a nice new door seal though

I could only get the whole plate kit from my local dealer. I tried to get the cheaper kit but for some reason they can't get it any more.

no im not mad i repair cars for a living
labour times in garages make it easyer to
fit the full metal part than to try and fit the repair kits
and it is an easy job but it mite not be for some one else
