probably the heater bypass valve, i had exactly the same prob on my mk2 before i sold it. new matrix but still no heat (never did fix it just sold it!). My Rado aint much better, it gets warm for a while then goes cold and i got told that was the same problem. Bloody poo VW heaters!!

Do a search in the mk2 section, i think the subject of how to fix them has been done a few times!

Nice! thanx!

Just been on the phone to my local dealer, the part is £88! However was also told that not having it there could cause excess pressure in the matrix and damage it!

Yeah apparently if you dont have it there is a small risk of your matrix blowing and spraying your feet with hot water which could be a little err...distracting if you are driving at the time.

I think a lot of people recommend putting in a mk3 matrix as they are stronger however if yours is brand new you should be ok but is up to you whether or not you wanna risk it!

I'd rather not risk it :( so many things are going wrong with the golf right now that I don't wanan bodge anything lol

I'm having words with my dealership, I think they have priced me up the wrong part too.

Thanx for your help!
