mk2. its the only one that improved on the mk1 for driver appeal until the mk5 and thats 20k so yea defo mk2 thanks, unless someone wants to give me a mk5 for chrimbo, i would be very greatful and your best friend so come on tis the season!!!

Has to be the Mk2 for me :wink: i just love the car with every part of me!!!!!!!
If i could afford to insure the 16V i would have that over the 8V i have now!!! :laugh:

it all depends what you mean by best car really.   

The mk5 is obviously the best car as it's got all the mod cons, is good to drive from what i've seen/read, is safe as houses and hopefully has a better level of reliabilty than the mk4.

I'd say the mk2 is the better hot hatch tho'.

i voted mk3 as it's the best of both worlds and the majority is always wrong.  :tongue:

The BEST car as a driving machine has to be the Mk 5 without a doubt.

The one with the most charisma has to be the Mk 1.


But because there are sooooo many Mk2 owners here this poll will always be biased. :rolleyes:

You can never beat the mk1 since its the originator but I agree there are more mk2 owners so the answer will be biased I guess if I get a chance to drive the mk5 my decision might change but I was looking at the Ford Focus ST today as well as the VXR Astra not bad for price and I quite like the 2.5 Turbo idea lol I want a Turbo to play with! lol

MK2 for me!!! :smiley:


I don't really like Mk3, 4 and 5: too much comfort and electronics and not in the spirit of the Mk1...
Mk1 remains the "Original"! Mk2 is an ameliorated Mk1! :smiley:
