mk2 gti help required please
« on: 03 December 2006, 11:57 »
hey all

my  mk2 gti (pb) has been running spot on since i have had it

but yesterday i got in it after i finished work
and fired her up but it just cut out straight away,
this continued 3 or 4 more times before i could floor it so i could rev it abit

then this morning i fired her up pulled off the drive and it cut out again
did the same thing 3 or 4 times struggled to rev it

started driving and it seemed to die in 5th put it into 3rd and it drove ok again
I have changed the dizzy cap and rotor arm but problem is still there

also in the wet it misfires now and again until its warmed up
dont know if thats anything related to it

cheers
rob

try rotor arm or dizzy cap, maybe fuel filter have you checked that the leads are not grounding on the head happens sometimes just need to pull the rubber over anyway that's what i would check..

how does it cut out ie does it chug chug then stop or does it just idle low then cut out??

i cleaned the idle control valve out
and replaced the breather pipe that goes from the round piece o top of the rocker
as it was split

drives without spluttering but it wont hardly tick over now wants to cut out
and my knock sensor is broken so that could cause it to be ticking its arse off

just bought 20 50 oil see if i can quieten it down
