Hi,

Im 31 and paid about £630 wth privilege. It might be worth adding a few older drivers on you policy, when i added my dad (no claims or conviction, driving since 1964) my quote dropped by £20.

I'll try putting my Mum on - she's 60!

Funny thing is, if the insurers could see her drive, they'd increase my premium for adding her!

Hi Martin

Meant to say, I double checked the quote I had from efalump, and the 12 month one (rather than the 10 month accelerator bogey) was just shy of 1k.

Admiral called me today and said they would be able to do below £900 when I give them the date I'm getting the car.

Hands up who would use Martin if HIC were competitive on Mk V's and gave as an extra 10% off for being members of the site...

no worries, nice one.

Had a chat with my boss about the mkV's after i spoke to you and mentioned that we are not very good at them at the moment and he said there are some things in the pipeline to rectify this so watch this space......

Try confused.com on internet.  Just put i details once and it compares a large number of options real time and reports back to you in descending cost.  I was lucky due to age, wife's car, low mileage to get fully comp for £203 for GTI.

getting quoted around £360-£450 for a GTI for me, which is similar to what I pay for my TT225 Quattro
32, 8 yrs no claims, AB10 postcode, parked in a residents car park

Just hoping that the Edition 30 I've ordered won't cause the premium to be too much higher.
I've not looked into whether a Tracker of some sort would have much effect on the premium either
