Who do you peeps use for insurance?

I don't have any no claims and am aged 28.  Best price I've been quoted is just under 1k for me and the missus (business class 2) with www.elephant.co.uk.

Hiya,i used Swiftcover.com,at £500 they were way cheaper than others for me.Obviously age is a major factor, i'll be 40 in a few weeks!They didn't mind that i'd changed the wheels either,which is unusual. Hope this helps.

elephant quote went from around £500 to £750 but changed to admiral for £630 if i remember correctly.

Thanks Scotty - I'll try Admiral tonight.  Wife is 27 also, and I've got 3 points for an SP50  :embarassed:

I have a Paisley post code (for those of you in In-ger-lund, it's near Glasgow) even though I don't stay there, and I think that pushes the premium up a bit. 

Also, I've been declaring that the car is modified in that it has 18" Monzas (i.e. optional extra alloys).  Maybe this is also adding to the cost?

Thought by the time I was 28 my insurance would be a bit more affordable.

I'm pretty sure the 18s don't count as modified as standard VW wheels bought with the car. Over the last few years I have moved around Pivalege (sp?), Admiral and Elephant and found them to be the cheapest by miles. I got quoted £2k for my last car and now pay just £800 for the Golf. I'm 30 and car is on the street in SW2 London which is also the Brixton postcode so not ideal! That includes my girlfriend, 3 years no claims, commuting and just 8k miles a year.

I probably would not consider this as a modification as its an optional dealer extra, i didnt put it as a mod on the quote i gave you.....

Im 31 and paid about £630 wth privilege. It might be worth adding a few older drivers on you policy, when i added my dad (no claims or conviction, driving since 1964) my quote dropped by £20.

Meant to say, I double checked the quote I had from efalump, and the 12 month one (rather than the 10 month accelerator bogey) was just shy of 1k.

Admiral called me today and said they would be able to do below £900 when I give them the date I'm getting the car.   

Hands up who would use Martin if HIC were competitive on Mk V's and gave as an extra 10% off for being members of the site...
