While with its previous (1st) owner, my car was looked after by the VW dealer. It came with a detailed history so I know what was done.
A few weeks before I bought the car, it was into the dealer to have the famous leaking rear washer fixed. Not long after buying I noticed the boot light was not working so I took of the trim and found the washer to be leaking - now fixed properly using quality non VW parts!
2 days before buying the car, it was MOT'd by the dealer, the rear exhaust hanger had to be re-welded to the back box to pass. Within a week of having the car, I discovered the weld to have failed. Re-welded it myself (in March) and still going strong.
There was mention on an invoice of fixing a rattle in the dash by placing felt strips in the gap - panel below steering wheel next to centre console. This has played up for months so I removed to panel to investigate. 2 screws were missing including 1 important one holding the inner panel mount to the console and the plastic outer panel was cracked around a screw hole. No wonder it rattled with that standard of workmanship, probably came out worse than when it went in. (at least the felt strips were there!)
Very poor from people you would expect to be the best.
