crank or cam sensor

where is it,anyone got any pics or owt to help me find it?? any help would be greatfully recieved! cheerz in advance! the car in question is a 94 mk3 golf vr6  :wink:

The cam sender runs on the exhaust camshaft, picture shown with coil removed.



I'll check where the crank sender is.

The car won't start at all if there is no signal from the crank sender.
Maybe the same for the cam sender as well but not totally sure.
What are the symptoms?
Unfortunately a friend of mine has my mk3 golf bentley manual  :embarassed:
But i did own a vr6 for 4 years so might be able to help  :laugh:

cheerz again.my vr is losing power,seems like its spluttering a bit with some backfire at times,theres just something not right  :huh: its gotta be 1 of the 2 tho as i have changed pretty much everything else that it couldve been,it sounded like a maf problem to start but i have now changed that for a new 1 but still its not right?! its had new plugs n leads,new air filter,new fuel filter,fuel pump replaced,new lambda sensor all within the last 2 months while trying to source the problem,had auto eleccy out he said lambda,did that no joy,got towed by AA he said maf,changed that and again no joy! it was working fine for about a week then it just didnt want to work 1 morning,and thats been it for a few days! any help would be appreciated as im stuck!  :sad:  :wink:

I take it you have replaced the fuel pump and ECU relays?

ecu relay?i have changed the fuel relays,that was the 1st thing to be tried!  :wink:

in the pic above you showed me the sender without the coil on,is it possible to get to that without removing the coil? had to ask before i forgot!  :wink:

Its been a long time but i think you will need to remove the coil to get to it.
Before you replace that, make sure that you have replaced these relays,
ECU relay(no.167) and the Fuel Pump Relay(no.30).
