WUR regulator mod. costs nothing & is detailed in Maintenance section

http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/index.php?topic=31611.0

my 1.8 16v was standard apart from WUR adjusted and big centre (square shape) silencer removed and it was running at 153bhp.

im in process of getting a head done for it also. then ignition is getting remapped using superchips ignition module. hoping to be touching 175bhp by the end of it all. keeping std KR cams also

sorry to pinch the thread!
Gambit has the WUR mod caused any starting issues? Have read somewhere that it can cause trouble?

Also whats your MPG like? I'm currently gettin around 30mpg, will it make much of a difference?

It sounds like a lot of bang for buck!!

cheers

i just run with the cold start valve disconnected and it starts, runs fine.

with it connected it floods itself in the morning

didnt notice any real difference in economy. i get around the 30 mark also

So the WUR is always connected (electrically), but you have disconneted the electrical connector to the cold start valve?

Did you get this done at stealth? Or did you just do it yourself of the guide??

deffo getting it done especially as I have a spare WUR!

cheers

yes WUR remains connected all the time & cold start (blue plug) is always disconnected

me and a mate done it. Stealth would involve a ferry trip over from N.Ireland!!

defo worth it if you have a spare WUR

off to the garage in the morning then see what my mechanic reckons!
Hopefully he will have the necessary gauges!

got to be worth a go for 15-20 stallions!

what do reckon I'll get with the flowed head and cams?

replace you inlet cam with an exhaust cam. Just gives it that little bit more lower down apparently.
