Starting her up for the firs time
« on: 18 October 2006, 14:47 »
Golfers,

I have finally fitted my downpipe, so everything is ready for my newer 8valve digifant engine to be started up.

Just before I do this I would like to know whether there is anything that I should do before I do so?

I will fill her up with oil tonight, then let it settle for 24 hours, then top her up again some more before starting.

Have you done a rebuild, or is it a used engine you have fitted?

If you've done a rebuild, remove and earth the coil lead to the distributor and turn the engine over on the starter until the oil pressure light on the dash extinguishes.

If it is a used engine then just fire it up straight away

If it is a rebuild i'd also squirt a little oil down the spartk plug holes...

Good luck!

It is a used engine.
