Oil on driveshafts

Hi,

After taking off my driveshafts I noticed that they are very oily, obviously because they are rotating constantly when engine is engaged however the oil is quite thick, i think because it is old.

Is this a problem, should I look at changing the oil on these, and how would I do this?

Do you mean CV Joint grease? If so then yes it is worth cleaning them up and re-packing the joints with some CV grease. Can be purchased cheaply from your local motor factors.

They will be covering in all sorts of cr@p from years of picking up er... cr@p 

Check the rubber boots and make sure they aren't split, other than that just leave them, grease/oil is great protection against corrosion, you're probably looking at the mess left from a previous split boot

CV joint grease can get on the inside of your road wheel! causing all types of sh!t to stick there, and then throwing the wheels off balance, clean them as well if they need it..
