Idle probs
« on: 05 October 2006, 22:18 »
Hi people,

1.5 carb

Been having a few probs on idle over the past week.

When cold she is fine, only when she warms up that it seems to have a misfire on idle. revs drop then back up. only about 100 or 200 revs. Just like flicking a light on and off.

I can give her some down the road with no probs

Seems to be getting worse, at idle only but an intermittant fault. sometimes sweet and sometimes not

Misfire and now sometimes the revs drop right down so the rev counter don't move but she still ticks over but then sometimes cuts out.

Sometimes would cut out and missfire but then back to norm for a few mins then same probs

I can sit there in traffic or at the lights just giving her a bit of throttle and she will have slight misfire at 1000 revs and no miss at 1500 up.

Bits changed:

Air Filter/Fuel filter/jet clean in carb.
Plugs/leads/rotor and dizzy cap.
Points changed last year

Help needed

Cheers
Tucker

Hi

What carb are you running?
If it is a solonex carb, they have a little air bleed scree in the side that blocks up, causing it not to idle properley.  You can get to it from the drivers side of the car, remove it, clean it and replace.  If it works for a bit then goes back to poor running, you'll have to remove, strip, clean and re-build the carb.
Probably won't hurt to do the above any way, I its been done for a while.
If it is another brand of carb... I dunno, sorry.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Magic,

3B or PB, seen it on there somewhere.

Noticed it missing through out the range now, tried a mates coil with no joy.

Picking up a dizzy tomorrow, hope that does the job as they are known for going.

Daily diver too

cheers
