coolant fault
« on: 26 September 2006, 17:03 »
hi chaps,
can you help, im getting a coolant fault when i fire up my mk4 1.8t. it says STOP service manual. when i turn off engine and restart it the fault has gone. its happening nearly evertime i start it and its driving me mad. the engine temp is always normal and the car seens to drive ok. the stealers changed one of the sensors not the headr tank one the other but to no avail when i put it back in they said there was no fault showing. could it be anything to do with the climatronic.

I'd try changing the sensor in the header tank first.

hopefully that should cure the problem

i will give it a go. do you have to change the whole header tank or can you just change the sensor.

i think the sensor is part of the cap so no need to change the whole tank

Can you let us know the end cost?
I get this occasionally also on the 1.8T. I've just been ignoring it as it normally goes out within a few moments.
