Rear ABS sensor - re-setting onboard cpu
« on: 25 September 2006, 11:25 »
Hi all,

I have not been on the board for a while - I hope everyone is well.

I have just brought a replacement ABS sensor for my rear right wheel as the old one was giving a fault and shutting down the ABS and
I have a couple of questions:

1. Once fitted, do I need to reset the onboard cpu for the fault to be removed, or will it do it automatically once the new sensor is in place?

2. When I went to remove the wheel nut guards to get to the bolts on the alloys - i found they were tricky to get off, and I was starting to scratch the metal. What can I use to safely remove these?

3. I am thinking about buying a cable so I can jack my laptop in into the cars's cpu, as I have been using someone else's up untill now, and was wondering where I could download a copy of the fault diagnosis software?

Also, I have noticed that the driver side window sometimes does not want to open or close - it tends to fix itself after 20 mins or so once the engine has been running - any ideas?

Help much appreciated,

Nick

1. It should reset after you have moved a couple of metres .

2. I use long nose pliers

3. Normally available at all good sources of dodgy software.

Cheers guys,

Sorry for my delayed response, been away for a bit.

Have now got software and cables for VAG so will set to work at the weekend to get it all fixed.

Will let you know how it goes.
