Mk4 calipers?
« on: 22 September 2006, 08:43 »
Hi,

I have found some mk4 calipers for £129 for the pair and wonder if it would be better, and worth upgrading my seized mk2 rears with these.

I understand that the fitting for the calipers, ie. the two bolt holes either side are standard on all golf models, however the mechanism itself is different, with different hose connections.

Would they bolt straight on to my existing 239mm (i think) disks?..... and would all I need is different hose connectors, if so, where would I be able to get the adapter pipes?

thanks

I belive you need a braided hose kit made expecially for this conversion. I also suspect you may need different handbrake cables depending upon year.

rear mk4 calipers are a straight fit onto mk2's

you do need different rear hoses as they are banjo fitting. you can get them from C&R Enterprises

if your car is pre 88 then you need the later (longer) handbrake cables

Mine is 89....

Should I buy these or just get the standard ones?

Bearing in mind that I dont really want to mess about too much.... especially if the hand brake cable doesnt fit.

the cables will fit. the hoses wont.

email C&R and ask the price of the hoses
