ISO connector (female/car wiring) required
« on: 10 September 2006, 08:33 »
Also posted in Parts required. This is a specific car audio part required hence the duplicate post here for maximim coverage.

At long last I'm about to get my VW Golf MK3 1.8 GL from my mate. The problem is the idiot who cut the car ISO connector off to get the stereo out. My mate just wired his stereo in as is but I want to put an ISO connector back on rather than improvising the Pioneer wiring harness.

Does anyone know where you can buy the ISO connector (female/car wiring) from?

Cheers,
Dave

got mine from a scrapyard. cut them off an old car and then reattched them to the car wiring.

works a treat now and looks miles better.

you could just buy any one of the looms from halfords (e.g. for taking Ford plugs and turning them into ISO plugs), and chop off the non-ISO end...

Could work out more expensive, but I guess with shipping from a 'net site it probably won't.

For which wires are what I guess Mr Haynes might help, or I'll be attempting to figure out where I have a dodgy earth/live to my HU later (someone's hard wired ISO plugs on, but since I fitted my sub I think I've disturbed something as it cuts out when asked to pump out high power, even with sub outputs turned off.) so I could probably tell you....

I got an Autoleads connector from Motorworld for £5.99. Heatshrunk in-line splices to connect and seal the wire joins.

Dave
