I agree Phil and that's why i decided to stick with my GTi order. Most of the price is simply the prestige of a VW special edition, and if it doesn't live up to the hype with the automotive press the resale values will quickly fall into line with the standard GTi, or at least significatly less than the premium they are charging over the standard car.

I agree a disagree here.

If the car was nothing more than a tarted up GTi then I would say it ain't worth it.

But the key word above is 'was' (well still to be offically confirmed) if the Turbo is from the new S3 and other bits and pieces under the bonnet, then its more than just the make up that makes this car warrant a price.

Being a new to VW's owner, I don't understand why people rave about GTi's with BBS CH's on and then when the ED30 comes out they slate it, when it has them on?

Apparently, mine has already been built, with arrival at dealer (Specialist Cars Aberdeen) expected in early to mid February....just in time for March 1st delivery

Salesman just confirmed that to me, although he couldn't locate the build week at the time

I must be out of favour with them after making a pain in the arse of myself over the black wheels - they havn't called me to confirm my build date!

Yeah, i think i was a right pest for them as well over the black alloys!!!  Kept on ringing them and speaking to them; still didn't manage to get a deal out of them though.  I think i'll wait a week or so before i give them a bell about my car for them to calm down abit......

Sorry......I Love the Monzas & the Monza IIs. BUT I like alloy wheels to look like they are made of alloy. Why spoil a great looking pair of alloys by spraying them black. The only thing that looks good with black alloys is an F1 car. Black alloys remind me of "Chaved up" Punto GT. (No offence Ollieb7 and if we all liked the same things the world would be very boring!)
Also a good point was made by wantmygti. If they were BBS CH's I think people would be singing a different tune.
For the two grand extra, its something a little different from the normal GTI. (Not that you see that many GTIs around as it is). I love the stock GTI and thats what I was going to order. I also did think that the Edition 30 was, on first inspection, alot of money for what you get. I was going to add leather and Moza IIs and that would have been £2000, on a standard GTI. So considering that you get 18" alloys, half leather, changed front & rear valance, dark rear lights and a little more power. I dont think its bad. Also there will be only 1500 of them, there were 1800 of the 25th ANNi editions and how many of those do you see? Options on a standard GTI wont be worth much on trade in, as it will be a GTI with leather & Monza IIs. The Edition 30 will always be worth a little more, maybe not £2000 more, with it being a limited edition.
I'm not saying its perfect, as I prefer the looks of the Monza II, but the pics from the german dealership look great.
Now, on another point I really don't like the front end of the R32 that much (that should get people talking  ) and didn't someone say that they wanted an orange or yellow one. They could allways try the orange or yellow golf speed.......

Mind you the leather & alcantara seats look nice.

Well to be really honest, I think the Monza II alloys look a lot classier than anything offered on the Edition 30.  I don't think VW is to blame though as they did an almost perfect job on the Mk5 GTI - how can you improve on something close to perfection?  :undecided:

Don't mind it myself too much - however if you were to spend £27k plus on a R32 how anoyed would you be when some random pulls up in a Jetta with the same front!

i just think that £24 grand for a LOW spec gti edition 30 is way way to much, the standard gti was as we all know well over priced, cant fault the car at all, so why on earth do vw price the car almost as high now as a high spec suburu imprenza sti, when the cars performance fulls way behind the suburu's. although build quality still imo is better in ANY vw product.
