Fraid i paid full whack - plan is to remove the pescara wheels even before i use them and then sell - yes i will end up out of pocket but at an amount i think will be worth in order to get the car that i want with the ease of use - also the car will look well distinctive in a factory way and not like i've nicked the wheels off a MG ZT!

The only concern I have with the black alloys is that they will look nasty with age - won't stone chips and maybe small amounts of corrosion make them look pitted?

A small touch up wirth matt black paint should do the trick - try doing that to the 25th Anniversary ball polished wheels - thankfully mine were replaced under warranty!

looks like the ride quality on the edition 30 has been highlighted as a bad point on autocars website. something to do with lowering it an extra 15mm has affected it on rougher road conditions. Ill stick to the normal one me thinks!

That's the first time I've heard that it has lower suspension than the ordinary GTI...no mention made on VWs website or in the German market brochure  :undecided:

Autocar is by no means consistently accurate (much better than Autoexpress though)...just wonder if they've made that bit up, or misunderstood something in the spec

I made a note of looking at any changes in suspension and from looking at the VW site a month ago, it seems to have the same 15mm lowering as the standard GTI - unless the latest brochure says otherwise.

What? Has Autocar done a road test? None that i have seen.
Another question - Is the R32 not lower than the GTI?

Sounds like codswallup to me!

I've read the review its online at Autocar.

Its more like a 'Can't be bothered to drive it, its just got a slightly bigger engine review' and where they get the 15mm lower from I don't know?

The Tech spec does not say anything about this, although I'm still awating to see an official review and official notification of whats different under the bonner re Turbo, ECU etc.

Mmmmm.........I thought that it had the same ride height as the normal GTI.

If I remember right, Autocar didn't like the 25 Anni either and advised readers to keep their money unless they were a Golf nut.

Also the review in EVO this month gives the 240hp engine a good right-up ( in the Leon Cupra). It says that it pulled stonger higher up the rev range than the GTI and the FR and they didn't mention any turbo lag.
Bye Bye Edition 30
