I still haven't received the letter yet but i'm not surprised by the response they gave to be honest ollieb7.  Any luck from contacting the contact?

More than just luck - I've got them! - Well ordered....from a UK dealer.
They are known as Rockingham Alloys 7.5x18" PN/o. 1K0601025AMZ98. Cost the same as 18" monza. I'm told they will be here next week. Just need to get that car (lots of foot tapping)

Any body interested in a brand new set of Pescara wheels for less than cost..........

Are you sure you've got the right wheels???

Rockingham is what the 18" BBS Pescara wheel is known as on the German GTI configurator

I'd check quickly if i were you to avoid an expensive mistake!!

Yeah, i noticed that aswell phope.  However, if they are the black monzas, which dealer did you get them off ollieb7?  The other thing is, are they a no cost option?  If not, why should you expect to pay for the alloys if the germans have a no cost option between the black monzas and pescara (rockingham) alloys???  Daylight robery if you have to pay for the black monzas (IF these are the black ones).

Looks like vw brochure has been updated to include the Edition 30 gti:

http://www.volkswagen.co.uk/assets/pdf/golf_hatchback_brochure.pdf

I noticed something on there - under "technology" it says "Running gear - including Electronic Differential Lock."  Does anyone know what this may be?

The part No. quoted is for the black monza style - Verbally confirmed by my dealer. The Z98 designates this apparently. There are also 2 other codes - one for 'brilliant' silver and the other smoked?? If they are wrong the dealer has agreed to take them back. Yes i have had to pay for the buggers - but having once sold the others the cost should not be too much - worth it in my mind after cleaning BMW 18" MV style wheels for the last year and a half - so no hijacking my offer Waddler! I'll put a post out nearer March for the Pescaras - as near cost will be ideal.
I do agree that VW is being hard headed - to the point that i made an official complaint - But there we are!
I'll let you all know once i get them if they are indeed black!

Hmmmm.... didn't like them at first - for a long time - but beginning to grow on me esp. since I think that the 18" Monza's are far better looking than the Pescaras... I may order a set but also wanted to get the 19" BBS Air-Inside alloys and keep the Pescaras to keep the car original so that would cost quite a bit.

I was thinking of getting a set of 19" BBS's CH's but to be honest they are only a tad bigger than whats on it, and its the mrs car after all, she will only end up kerbing them. Was maybe thinking of getting a set of ebay Monza copies just to keep the Pescarra wheels fresh.

Think our car will look a little like this, but not as low, which I think looks quite tidy and sets the ED30 away from the standard GTi.

Well, i can confirm that the black monzas are indeed available  8) but not as a factory option!!!  Cheers ollieb7, that was a good find mate.  I went to the stealers today to the parts department and gave in the parts no. you gave earlier.  10mins later, he came back and asked which car they were for - i said edition 30 gti - he didn't have a clue what i was talking about!!! Seemed like he thought i was talking a different language!  Anyway, i asked for a print out which i have infront of me now.  It gives the picture of the monzas, pescaras and some other R32 alloys.  Footnote to the monzas says - 1K0 601 025 AM - wheel disk alum (aluminium i presume?) - 'Rockingham' 7.5Jx18H2 ET51 - Model PR-CQ4+E2m (guy didn't even know what that meant - may refer to the model of the car) then 06/05 Z98 matt black.  So, then i went next door and asked to speak to my dealer - who wasn't there - so i spoke to another guy there.  I explained what was going on and caused yet more confusion, as they didn't know they were available as parts!!!  Cost of each alloy - 379 quid (which is far too much - so will speak to my dealer and manager tomorrow to try and negotiate something).  Apparently, the original pescara alloys will be "titan grey."  How did you manage to get the deal you did ollieb7?
