VW UK have changed the http://www.vw.co.uk/new_cars/forthcoming/golf_gti30

Heated front sports seats has been dropped from the standard equipment and now has become a £300 option!!!!!

I've made a pest of myself again (yes again) with the dealer!

I ordered the winter pack anyway but I though that the heated front sports seats were standard?

Where do you get that from?

Its still on the web site, and on the link you posted, and when we orderded ours VW confirmed the heated seats because I asked about what the winter pack will cost and its £200 with Xennons.

Can't see they have changed anything TBH.

I can't see why people are also slating this car, fact is its still a GTi and is a slightly better/uprated version.

We havn't got a GTi therefore this one will be I'm sure a very good car just as a standard GTi would be to us.

If the car is as good as people say GTi's are then I'm sure we will go for an IROC in 08 also.

Agreed Dave

The spec distributed to VW uk included "front heated sports seats."  When i signed all the paper work, the stealer went through all the options and front heated sports seats was one of them - i signed the papers with the agreement (from both parties) that this would be part of the package, so if this is true (that the heated seats aren't part of the package), they will either have to put in the heated seats (cause i won't be paying for them) or i think this is a legit case to take further action...but stealer hasn't contacted me yet about this and i'm sure she would have by now, as the car is probably under production as we speak/chat.

I went for the following options:

5dr DSG (i'm afraid i had no choice!  Would have liked 3dr)
Diamond black pearl effect
Ipod in armrest
Xenons
Parking sensors (can never be too careful i guess!)
Rear tinted windows
Bluetooth prep
GAP and autoglym

Price was abit steep, but i had been looking at the mkv gti for a long time now.  I personally think that this is the best model since the mk 1 (and possibly mk2) No offence to anyone with a mk3 or mk4!   The edition 30 will just add to an already fantastic car, as you correctly mentioned Dave.  Also, VW seems to be concentrating on mass production and cost reduction for the next gen golf, which i personally think may compromise on quality/reliability and i don't want to risk this opportunity for a possibly poor mkVI - i've heard they are also dropping 5 dr models on the golf (incl. the gti) and placing that option with the golf plus (which i don't like!) for the mkVI.  So, i think this car (edition 30 gti, or any normal mk5 gti for that matter) is going to be a well sort after car in the future.  Put it this way, its been around since 2004 (correct me if i'm wrong!) and i haven;t heard a bad report about it since, only good, and that has been rare for vw recently.  As a result, i don't think i'll be changing this car anytime soon!!!
