Mobile Speed Camera's ???
« on: 18 August 2006, 09:34 »
I think I may have got 'zapped' this morning - it was a dam mobile camera and I was late for work, ohh the joys!!!

My question is .... do they zap you 'forward facing' as I was going towards it and it was on the other side of the road, or do u have to 'pass' them like a gasto???

Dave.  :undecided:

The mobile cameras which are usually a black box on a tripod in front of a white van only catch cars on their side of the road and you have to pass them 1st. However policemen with speed guns can catch you before you even pass them.

Souds like you will be ok.

Those mobile ones are usually forward facing!

Two schools of thought here.
1. Get the photo and see if you are recognisable.

2. Do nothing and wait to see if they register the photo evidence.

But I think you are f**ked basically! Sorry!

As far as I know they don't send you a photo unless you ask for one after you've received the letter asking for the details of the driver and even then you have to pay to get a picture of yourself. Unless you plead guilty and pay the fine and surrender your license for the points to be added the photo is almost allways submitted as evidence against you.

I never paid to get a photo! Although it was only a printed one on ordinary paper!

Beat that one!

It must have changed a bit then as a few years ago my father got caught speeding by a road side speed trap and when he asked for the photo they said they would provide one but he would have to pay to get it
