ill get some pictures up over the weekend of the dash in full and what cuts i had to make to get futted snug enough.  if a mk3 fits into a mk2 with minimal cuts i guess someone could squeeze a mk4 dash in there. someone give it a go!!!!

i wont declare the dash untill the engine has been put in and the car is back on the road. i know policies would be void if mods not declared, but i know nothing about cars and i bought the car like that and presumed that the car had a stock dash

thanks for all your comments they are making me blush :embarassed: but keep em coming

the dash was in but i had to take it out today so i can fabriacate a bridge from the mk3 blowers up to the mk4 dash chanels, ive bought my chicken wire and my fibre glass matting kit today(thanks to a handy tip off from dizzie rascal) so i can start fabricating tomorrow pics to follow

the other and only stumbling block i have is swapping the mk3 headlight switch wiring over to the mk4  plug. if anyone has some info on this please share it with me as i have no clue what each wire does so i dont want to try different connections and blow fuses or pop the bulbs or circuitry in the mk4 switch.

smoked m3 rear lights,crystal fog lights & repeators,mk4 headlights,mk4 dash&clock conversion, TT competition alloys,Audi S-line badges on side strips,de-badged grill,vr6 lsplitter,60mm suspension(rear adjustable30mm-90mm).front strut brace,escort recaro DIY leather interior 2b fitted VERY shortly.Audi S3(1.8 20vt) engine conversion underway,rear strut brace 2b bought=contact me if u know of1

using the mk3 switch you can test for it with a multimeter or it should be in the back of the Haynes manual not sure on the mk4 but if you find the main feed pin, put your meter on continuity, the one that beeps! then put sidelights on on the switch and test the pins, ballache but someone will probably know anyway!

edit: Main feed is what I meant but again it's going to be a pain! haynes sneaky peek I think!

finally got my butt into gear and hoooked up the mk3 fans to the mk4 air channels and all is working sccchhewweeettt.

i had to fibreglass over some chicken wire to make a lip  for the air ducts supplying the window with air as this was flush, then i cut some lengths of leather (as i had an old tatty hide wasting away in the garage) and wrapped the around my fibregalss lip and around the mk3 fan unit silicon sealed the overlap and cable tied it around the fan unit and the fibreglass lip.

i had one small mod to make to the mk4 heater controls as the dial for choosing where the air blow from wouldnt select the window option as it didnt retun the metal cable all the way, so i had to space the end of the sheath surrounding the cable a little furhter back from the actaul mounting point, fixed it in position and roberts your mothers brother.  so dash is in for good now, heaters work, clocks working with no flashy christmas lights blinking at me.

jobs left to do are: cover the back of the exsposed glovebox, screw some more anchors to the sides of the dash and screw to mk3 dash support to fasten the dash down good and proper so no vibrations whilst driving, make a cusotm steering colum surround out of cardboard and wrap in leather or cloth, fix my head unit wiring as i have now somehow not got the 12v supply when ignition is turned on.  after these little jobs the conversion should be completed.
