Hello! My 8v K-jet Golf!
« on: 11 August 2006, 09:34 »
Hello and nice to be here! Just signed up after using this site for a long time for problem solving! I must say a first you guys help more people than you know!

Anyway need a few things cleared up for me if anyone could help.

Im 19 on my 2nd mk2 Golf had my 8v GTi for about 2 months (after my old 1.6 Driver died of rust) and there's a few minor problems! When i first got it, it missed like hell, stalled at juctions and stutterd up hills. That was fixed with new sparks leads and dizzy so all runs fine now.

First problem - when i take the car over 4 revs and put my foot down on the clutch it feels like the cable is catching or something? now iv had a new cable put it and it still does it, dont seem to do any harm but would still want to fix it as it worry's me abit lol!

Next problem - when i pull away there is an odd noise, like when a drive shaft goes does it once or twice only when pulling away stops after a sec or two or sometimes not at all? Iv been told it may just be the age of it (its 19 aswell) so it could be nothing but still lol

Final problem - the small rubber thing on top of the rocker cover has gone to pot, i brought a new one but it was the wrong chape i presume the Digi engine one, i need one for the K-Jet cover? where and how much if any one does?

Well thanks for your help sorry if anything is abit hard to understand but im no expert by a long way ,thank again!

Better put all the info of my car.

The rubber bung at the top of rocker cover is a breather bung only a couple of quid from dealer or gsf (or ebay).

Sound like the fuel pump relay is suspect check and replace if required.

Yeah id suspect the fuel pump also. Turn your ignition on and listen for the hum of the pump. You should hear it for about 2 seconds then it will cut out. If you dont hear it then 1st change the fuel pump relay.

Another thing to check would be the intake hose from the airbox. This must be sealed and have no splits or gaps in it anywhere. The k-jet system needs to be airtight in order to work.

Hi, thanks for the response. I called my guy he said the "igition module" (i think he siad that) has gone, should be back today, and as for the rubber thing on the rocker cover i got one off ebay but it was the wrong size, or at least didnt look right? re they the same on the digi engine as the k-jet?

Do they have an ignigion module? ask him which part that is exactly or get him to point to it.

Hi guys,

I am new here too and I'm  trying to get to grips with what's what.

Sorry for crashing into your post like this but I have a question, I was under the impression that all 8V Mk2 GTI Golfs used the Digifant system and the 16Valvers used the Bosck K jetronic?

Please set me right here. I am still learning.

Thanks.
