Dont believe this.... please help!!
« on: 19 July 2006, 12:49 »
ok so i was chuffed that i got meself a set of audi 18" alloys for the mk4. Just spent a fortune on a set of 4 tyres aswell and when ive went to fit them today they dont bloody fit!!!

They go on ok but the holes for the bolts aint lining up. The golf ones are smaller than the holes on the audi wheels (if that makes sense).

Please can someone tell me if there is a way round this, hopefully an easy and cheap way lol. I was led to believe audi 5 studs fit straight onto vw 5 stud cars. Is there a spacer or adaptor of some sort i could use.

Thanks for any help

i dont see anything useful in that link mate.

mk4 golfs use a 5x100 pcd, similar chassis'd audis (not including S3 and TT) use 5x112 .. you can probably get an adaptor set but it might mess up the offset, and push the wheels too far out.

sensible choice would be to sell the wheels and get a correct set unfortunately :undecided:

D'oh toph beat me to it

Check out this link:

http://www.leightyres.co.uk/catalog/fitment.php

It lists the pcd of all different manufacturers.
The link you posted only had spacers, you need some proper pcd adaptors but at over 10mm thick they are gonna lower the offset and probably result in arch rubbing.
Fitting some sort of audi hubs/disks is probably the solution but probably more costly than some suitable rims

The adaptors in the second link wont work either, porsche 911 are a 5x130mm stud pattern.

But those wheels WILL fit Late Bay campers and vans and all T3 Wedge campers and vans so there is a big market for them if you need to sell them on.

If you really want to proceed with the audi rims these are what you need:

though at 20mm thick I'm sure there would be further trouble ahead!

D@mn right Nick (although the centre bore needs enlarging a bit) hmmmm 18" audi rims for yer wedge anyone :)

Spent two years in a VW & Audi dealers parts dept. Never encountered any adapter which would let you fit those wheels.

Try getting the manfacturer's code from the rim. Your dealer should have a book which will cross reference this code with a company.

You could sell your wheels. Contact the manufacturer and order a set of blank alloys in the same design which you can the holes bored in.

Probabley expensive though . . .
