Front Speakers
« on: 29 June 2006, 18:16 »
My Original dash mounted speakers have given up the ghost.
Do i buy new dash speakers? OR buy door bins and fit 5 & 1/4 speakers into door?
What will give better sound as i've read differing views.

Running an Alpine Mini Disc HU and a 6 Disc autochanger at the moment with 6x4 rear strut mounted Alpine  SXE-4625s and was running with original front dash mounted.

Any advice, models, prices etc etc

Whatever you do, don't buy new dash speakers!

Get some door pocket grilles, and take the part no's from the sticky thread with you - it took some spotty yoof about 20 minutes to locate mine on the parts catalogue!!

I'm doing a front speaker install at the moment, an as a result of advice on this forum, I intend to use amplified components, with the tweeters in the original dash speaker position.  Can't decide between these 2 at the moment:

You might prefer to stick to alpines.  I also intend to sound deaden the front doors/pods, probably with e-dead.

Good luck!

With the Alpine speakers..............................do you need crossover thingys to fit/make it work!
Newbie questions! They seem like good value.

Cheers

Yes, you would need crossovers with the alpines - good question, as they don't appear to come with them - probably why they seem such good value!

I'm mighty tempted by those 5010's, as they appear to be £100+ everywhere else.

The Infinitys have a better freqency responce dropping to 67hz on a 13cm speaker that is good. Alpines are dropping to 80hz. I know i have always said how good Alpines are but i think these Infinitys you have found are a great buy mate!
