I must start off by saying ive just pulled myself up from the chair as i passed out for a few seconds after reading that rubjonny didnt know where a part of a 16v engine went!!

Har!bo, I had to get my exhaust gases (whatever the tech' terms are for it!!) adjusted when i put my airbox on. Go to your local garage (as long as they have a pipe that they shove up your exhaust....ooh er missus!!) and bung them a tenner and get them to alter it. It will run soooo much better. My idle went to s~it when i put my airbox on after the Pipercross. Glad you have noticed performance differance. Im so glad i got shot of the Pipercross. Have you sold it?

oh right, well i dont need that one then.

Maybe not, but you need to make sure that the pipe connection that originally went to it is blocked off or you'll have a vac leak which will upset the running.

You deffo need to block off the vac connection that would have fed to the side of the airbox (or reconnect it properly) I'm not sure where it comes from and can't check on mine for you cos it was sold on Sunday . You don't need to worry about blocking off where the the thick hot air pipe connects from the manifold; that just helps with engine 'warm up' in the winter. But you could get some ally tube from Halfords to reconnect it if you like, they do the right diameter but I cant remember what mm it is. If you want to do that you need to check that the cowl on the exhaust manifold is present to make the connection, they often rust badly and fall off!
