Realtime chat alternative

I keep seeing people talking about real time chat. Does anyone use IRC? I haven't used it in years but just found and installed it again for fun. I put up a channel called #golfGTI if people want to meet there and chat. Connect through a Random USDALnet server. Could be fun.

i think you can use irc through a java based website, maybe it could be incorporated into the room, will have a word with one o f the tecchy lads at work to see how its done, may see ya there soon, as i was thinking of downloding irc for old times sake to !

totally lost me now if were gonna have some kind of live chat surely it needs to be approved and a link put on the homepage!!!
