Fair play mate sounds like a good way to go about getting your system just how you want it, I think its a good idea to buy things as you go instead of all at once because then you have the benefit of adding things that will fit in with and compliment what you've allready got.

An Alpine CDA 9847R will fit your budget. MP3, 3 pre-outs, can change the light colour to match the dash. Not much more than £100 :)

Hi I have a mk4 golf 2002, just got it, love the car but bit dissapointed with the music sound. it has the gamma radio and cd head unit that came with the car. will this is a lot worse that a alpine cd around the 100 quid mark as mentioned about or is it the speakers that are letting it down. any one with a suggestion of a good head unit around the 100 mark??? i have no idea how to fit so need somewhere that would do that too!
thanks for your help!

Tbh, I think it's probably worth spending the whole £400 on a head unit and worrying about speakers as and when. A head unit of that calibre will inprove sound in any car, which usually keeps most people happy at least till next month's pay cheque...
Then sub, front components and rears. That's what I usually do, anyway :)

Nice idea!...............but my install will then just cost  too much money

If I use my current HU and add some components..................................will that make a reasonable upgrade for the moment in sound quality!
