Front and back bearings are totally different.
The rears are tapered, and so are adjustable, hence the shells are not that tight a fit, and so can easily be tapped in or out.
The fronts are a double roller bearing type, and are a press fit. I don't dispute that they can be removed with a hammer and socket, but not 'tapped' out, hit bloody hard more likely. This method is not recommended for fitting a new bearing as damage is very likely to occur to the new bearing.
