I was under the impression no golfs came with LSD's from the factory also.

My test method. Try a burn out in the wet with a space saver on 1 side of the front :D

I presumed that the Rallye's, Synchros, and Ltds came with one as they were 4wd. I could however be wrong. Although i know that no normal goofs gti's included came with them.

EDL was on early mk3 vr6's - dunno bout others though

basically it sensed if one wheel was spinning faster than the other it would use the ABS to slow down that wheel. it only worked when going under 25mph though.

also, if both wheels started spinning together then it would do f**k all as it didnt sense any difference between opposing wheels!

:nerd: Thinking about it, i'm pretty sure if vw had made LSD's we'd all have them

EDL is a basic traction control system to stop wheel spin basically as gambit said.

If you want a LSD on your golf get one and either learn how to rebuilt a gearbox or pay someone to fit it. Looking at roughly £600 for the diff and £200 for someone to fit it. This is what a mate just paid to get his done to his G60 'box which will be bolted onto a 20vT.
