How did he manage to get the Golf back to your house ? Does it run ?

In the meantime, I will ask my technician. Timing and fitting of cambelt requires comprehensive equipment to get the setting just right, for the turbo models in particular. I don't believe it is a question of wiping the dirt off.  You don't give this job to a fitter  !

I will do dismantling work, my qualified tech guy does the real business.

Have you tried clearing the codes, it might be due to the fact the sensors were disconnected.

Ive had the codes cleared, they just come back up after coupla days, then they go off after few days, on again after that etc!!!thats why im thinking might have some dirt? or maybe not aliened properly. Thing is i cant notice any performance loss  :undecided: so im hoping the cambelt change went ok!!

i got this problem on my 20v golf gti after a cambelt/engine rebuild... it was due to the inlet cam being one tooth out of time causing the hall sensor to pick up out of time with the rest of the engine... easyily done i got my engine running after rebuild but wasnt 100% right.. id get cam timing double checked (two poitns on cams when at tdc to make sure...) if they are ok i have a spare 20v hall sensor (fits on head) u can have for free if you pay the postage just to try... and send me ypour old one back if it cures it... if not send me mine back...

Is it the sensor that fits on the head just under the AUM sign??
