More help needed
« on: 21 May 2006, 20:08 »
Right I have a mk3 2l 8v R reg, only just picked it up last week and tested it out this weekend, enjoyed every minute.
One question, when in 1st gear with foot right down it takes off but when it gets very near to red line it won't go over it ??? Hope that make sense any reason why this happens?
Cheers

Does it have a limiter on the car to stop it blowing up? :undecided:

Don't think it has a limiter but will check.
It only seems to do it in 1st gear.

there would be an electronic limiter.

It's only an 8v so they do not rev as high.

timing is probably out. 8v red line is way above 5k. there are a few threads about it in the mk3 forum.

Cheers chaps.
I will get the timing checked.
Not being able to red line thats bs mate, I don't. know not alot about motors but for sure you can hit the red line.
