I have been having problems with my golf, I took it to a mechanic mate to have the brakes front and rear done, new wheel bearings in the rears.
problem 1 when the rear brakes have warmed up, after say 3 or 4 miles they squeel really bad, untill you apply the foot or hand brake.
problem 2 when you apply full lock the front starts grumbling (offside) this is only at low speed,,,my mechanic assures me a wheel bearing is needed,,,i am right to be sceptical?
problem 3 when you accelerate sometimes it feels like it is dying, or to put it another way running out of fuel,,although there is plenty of fuel in, it is intermitant and with a down change and a bit of reving it picks up again,,the only fault i can see under the bonnet is a split in one of the breather pipes off the crank case.
the car does not seem as resposive as it should, this is my first golf so i don't know any better, but i feel it should pick up and rev better than it is at the moment,,,the oil and water are fine.
