Good luck if you believe a word a VW tells you - here's the latest load of flannel from Vindis VW...
I have immediately contacted my main factory support, and made them aware of the issues. They have promised to supply me with some hard evidence as to the progress of your order, when where and why delays have occurred.
They advise me that the issue has been the 18" wheels and the Sat Nav have been in short supply. I will attempt to get some confirmation of this. In the meantime it will be interesting to see what response you receive from your own contact. In the meantime I am keen to establish unequivocally for you that your order was placed by us, as we have stated, the day after you confirmed, on the 20th December 2005. If you let me have a fax number I can fax you a copy of the print off we keep on your file, with the details of your order on the internal VW system clearly dated 20.12.05.
You state that I have some explaining to do, and that shouldering all the blame with VW does not wash anymore. You further state that you have not been given a build date. I have repeatedly advised you of the build dates that VW have set and that this is now set by the factory at week 22 (week beginning 29th May) Since the order of your car the projected build date has moved from week 9 to as late as week 23. Until the car actually starts to roll down the production line this can be changed, and has been on numerous occasions with your car. I have also advised you that I would confirm with you when the status of your car changes. The status will not change until there is an actual change, ie. the car is 'frozen for production' effectively the car is being built, or 'production complete' effectively it has reached the end of the production line.
Mark, I have acknowledged your frustration and as you are kind enough to state, I have attempted to keep you honestly informed. Along with Paul Andrew we have attempted to negotiate with all involved parties on your behalf and thereby minimise the inconvenience and costs of delay. Please appreciate that we act, in effect, as an intermediary between the customer and the manufacturer. We have every interest in securing your vehicle as quickly as possible, but the production of your car is completely out of our control.
I look forward to hearing from VW and receiving their explanation for the delays, which I will immediately relay to you.
Please be assured that I will continue to act with your interests at heart and secure your vehicle as quickly as possible.
