Ordered my GTI on the 23/12/05 and I still have not even got a build date from the dealer. Vindis VW in St Ives. I wouldn't recommend them to someone I hate. I've written to the M/D of VW UK to try to get something done. All the dealer does is say it's not their fault and that VW are at fault with the lengthy build times. I'd cancel the whole thing and buy an A3 V6 if I'd not waited so long for my GTI that I now feel like I have to see this through. What a joke.

That is a ridiculous time to be waiting.  Something doesn't sound right there.  What spec car did you order?

Tell me about it! The dealer tells me the long wait is due to problems at the factory and frankly, this sounds like BS. I have now taken the matter up with VW themselves, but it's six months I've been waiting now and I think that's taking p***.

Spec is... basically everything you can have...

Golf GTI
3 door
six speed manual gear box
Tornado Red
Leather
18" Wheels
Sat Nav
Winter Pack
Xenons
Park sensor
Folding mirrors
Colour coded skirts, rear valalnce & front spoiler lip + R32 light clusters

(Plus... Oettinger, Morego or AmD remap, Milltek, Oettinger carbon air intake)

Good luck if you believe a word a VW tells you - here's the latest load of flannel from Vindis VW...

I have immediately contacted my main factory support, and made them aware of the issues. They have promised to supply me with some hard evidence as to the progress of your order, when where and why delays have occurred.

They advise me that the issue has been the 18" wheels and the Sat Nav have been in short supply.  I will attempt to get some confirmation of this.  In the meantime it will be interesting to see what response you receive from your own contact. In the meantime I am keen to establish unequivocally for you that your order was placed by us, as we have stated, the day after you confirmed, on the 20th December 2005.  If you let me have a fax number I can fax you a copy of the print off we keep on your file, with the details of your order on the internal VW system clearly dated 20.12.05.

You state that I have some explaining to do, and that shouldering all the blame with VW does not wash anymore.  You further state that you have not been given a build date.  I have repeatedly advised you of the build dates that VW have set and that this is now set by the factory at week 22 (week beginning 29th May)  Since the order of your car the  projected build date has moved from week 9 to as late as week 23.  Until the car actually starts to roll down the production line this can be changed, and has been on numerous occasions with your car.  I have also advised you that I would confirm with you when the status of your car changes.  The status will not change until there is an actual change, ie. the car is 'frozen for production' effectively the car is being built, or 'production complete' effectively it has reached the end of the production line.

Mark, I have acknowledged your frustration and as you are kind enough to state, I have attempted to keep you honestly informed. Along with Paul Andrew we have attempted to negotiate with all involved parties on your behalf and thereby minimise the inconvenience and costs of delay.  Please appreciate that we act, in effect,  as an intermediary between the customer and the manufacturer.  We have every interest in securing your vehicle as quickly as possible, but the production of your car is completely out  of our control.

I look forward to hearing from VW and receiving their explanation for the delays, which I will immediately relay to you.

Please be assured that I will continue to act with your interests at heart and secure your vehicle as quickly as possible.

Yes, you are right. It's a joke. Trouble is, I've waited six months already, if I cancel now, I'm back to waiting all over again. Let's see what VW have to say as I will forward this email from the Dealer to them for comment. Anyone know an email address at VW UK???? I can not see one on their website!

I'll ring up my personal vw advisor allocated from company sales.  I do have a customer service email for them.  As I emailed them to clarify a few details.  Here we go.

volkswagencustomercare@volkswagen.co.uk

They are ok, but usually take up to 1-3 days to get back.  But they have been very helpful, none the less.  So I ahve got good things to say about them.

Reagrds.
