MAF SENSOR - TORX BIT?

What size/name of the torx bit do i need to unscrew the maf sensor?? the ones i have dont fit.

If you're looking to replace it, you don't need to undo the torx bits. The MAF sensor comes as a complete assembly. Just undo the two jubilee/spring clips and disconnect the connector.

Isn't it a security torx bit probably T15 just get one of them cheap sets that have the bit attachments. But like richandhazel said you dont have to remove the sesnor although it is quicker.

Want to give it a clean... not sure it is the maf sensor thats gone, when the engine is running and i disconnect the plug the idle speed goes down a bit then goes back up....

In that case, yes you need a security torx bit, not sure what size. I have heard you can knock out the centre spigot but I've never managed it.

Its the T20H you need make sure its got the H on the end or it will not have the hole in.

Not sure if a clean is a sure fire sign as i cleaned mine and no difference but new one is a big improvement on performance.

Cleaning mine didn't help at all, still failed the VAGCOM test. Had to bite the bullet and replace it.

It certainly won't hurt to try, there may be debris on the hotwire. What usually happens is the hotwire deteriorates due to particles in the air constantly bombarding it. Because of this, it is a very important to ensure you replace the air filter as per the service schedule, more frequently in dusty environments.
